The City of Pembroke Pines and the Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery are presenting a new exhibition called “Silent Narrator/Curious Spectator” January 26, 2023 through March 11, 2023.

Visitors will be transformed by the delicate nature of the materials in this exhibition, such as printed silk, organza, rice paper, and sculptures made of weaved rope hanging from the ceiling. Some artworks commemorate ancestors with sculptures in terracotta and through the weaving of ropes, connecting the past with this instant. “The artworks in this exhibition observe the passing of time and the seemingly passive observation of life events in a state of invisibility, inviting inner reflection and memory recollection,” said Juliana Forero, Chief Curator of The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery.

Exhibiting artists include Apia, Liene Bosquê, Amy Broderick, Dana Donaty, Gabriela Gamboa, Amy Gelb, Alex Nunez, Felisa Prieto, Jeannette Stargala, and Lisu Vega, presenting artworks in multiple formats that include video, sculpture, prints, and paintings.

An opening reception for “Silent Narrator/Curious Spectator” is being held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 6 pm to 9 pm at The Frank, located at 601 City Center Way.  The opening is free to the public, will feature music by DJ DJane, and complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Regular Gallery Hours at The Frank are Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 am to 5 pm and admission is free.
