As part of the City of Pembroke Pines award winning series Raising Positive Children, students, parents, grandparents/guardians, educators and youth advocates are invited to “Helping Young People Thrive in a Screen-Filled World” on Thursday, October 6, 2022, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center located at 601 City Center Way.  The special guest speaker is Dr. Steve Arcidiacono and there will be a special showing of the movie Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER.  This is a film that examines the science behind a teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and what can be done in our schools and homes to help our youth build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in a digital age.  Following the movie, Dr. Steve Arcidiacono, a Florida licensed psychologist, published author, and speaker who is currently treating children and families with behavioral and emotional concerns at Boys Town South Florida’s Behavioral Health Clinic, will answer questions and provide further insight into how parents and teens can better understand these challenges, feel empowered to overcome mental health challenges, build emotional agility and stress resilience, and how the impact of social media and other screen time truly affects young people on a daily basis. Community resource information will be available.  Admission and parking are free. No Ticket is required and registration is encouraged.  Register at https://tinyurl.com/register-screenagers.  For more information, please call 954-450-1030.
